About the Platform

The MetaToul - Metabolic Networks platform dedicates its activities to the functional analysis of cellular metabolism. For this, the platform develops and applies methodologies combining mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance for the analysis of metabolic networks: 

- Quantitative targeted analyzes
- Identification of metabolic pathways by isotopic labeling (13C-Metabolomics)
- Measurement of metabolic fluxes (13C-Fluxomics)
- Modeling of metabolic systems (Flux calculation)

When we introduce the notion of isotopic tracer in metabolic profiling, we are talking about isotopic profiling. This consists of the analysis of the isotopomers of mass or position of all the metabolites of a pathway or those of a given class. Using this method, it is possible to follow the fate of the tracer in a metabolic network in order to characterize this network finely and to go as far as the identification of new metabolic pathways. The data obtained in isotopic profiling can also be used to calculate metabolic fluxes.

The platform has the skills and equipment for the study of metabolism by isotopic labelling, either by stable isotopes (13C, 15N, etc.)
