About the Platform 

TWB Automated Strain Engineering Platform (ASE) develops high throughput tools and original automated workflows for synthetic biology: introduction of new metabolic pathways in micro-organisms, genome and protein engineering and phenotypic and functional screening.

ASE developed a fully integrated robotic system with automated unit methods for microbial strain engineering and synthetic biology: DNA purification, combinatorial DNA assembly, genome editing, microbial strain transformation, analytical and functional screening.

The tools combine the flexibility and the throughput we need to provide customized workflows for various microorganisms backgrounds.

In the frame of the TNA call, ASE platform users will be given access to the infrastructure during two months. The Platform propose assistance support for experimental design and provide access to high/medium throughput services for : 1) DNA library/vector preparation and cloning 2) transformation and combinatory approaches for microorganism library production (Up to 800 clones per day can be treated). The platforms host of a set of automated equipements that could be utilised in the frame of the project: colony pickers (QPix, genetix), liquid handling automats (Hamilton Starlet, Hamilton Molecular station), Nucleic acid purification equipments (Hamilton).

TWB (Toulouse White Biotechnology). It is an administrative body supported by INRA that was created following the signing of an association agreement between INRA, INSA and CNRS. Initiated in October 2011, TWB attracted some thirty partners from the outset, who subsequently grouped together to form a spearhead public-private consortium, with the objectives to accelerate development in industrial biotechnology and promote the bio economy. TWB covers a wide range of skills, from biological engineering (enzymatic and metabolic engineering, synthetic biology) to the development of processes at the pre-industrial pilot scale.
