About the Platform 

VTT´s robotic system (VTT-HTS) allows high-throughput screening of a large number of transformed cells and/or culture conditions.

The automatic liquid handling system can handle max. 3500 cultures per week combined with on-line analysis e.g for glucose, OD and several end products by absorbance or fluorescence based assays. In addition, there is a number of at-line analysis available (e.g. for label-free MS, HPLC, UPLC, CE, NMR) allowing analysis of wide range of compounds to be used for off-line fermentation analysis (e.g. carbon metabolites, lipidomics, secondary metabolites, in vivo flux analysis).

VTT-HTS infrastructure enables high-throughput selection and testing of production strains, strain physiology as well as in connection with VTT -Bioreactors, optimization, upscaling and piloting of microbial fermentations supported by bioinformatics and modelling tools. Services currently offered by the infrastructure: VTT offers comprehensive services and infrastructure for industrial biotechnology development for all steps from metabolic engineering and high-throughput production host screening to further evaluation in bioreactor systems and process scale-up

VTT-HTS infrastructure offers access to VTT´s automated liquid handling systems for strain performance characterization. A typical visit duration is 2 to 3 weeks. The access will be supervised by expert staff who will determine with users exact project requirements and scheduling.
